What is Cotton Yarn?

Before introducing cotton, let us explain to you what is yarn.  The word “yarn” comes from middle English, it is also known as “benang” in malay and “” in Mandarin.

Yarn is made up of a continuous length of interlocked fibre from different material. It is suitable in production of textile, knitting, weaving, embroidery and ropemaking.

In our industry as the t shirt manufacturer in Malaysia, we use a lot of material which involves yarn.  A classic example is sewing threads. In le’fonse, we actually focus a lot on sewing thread as it is one of the crucial factor contributing to good sewing performance and the desired seam quality.  It is very important to know our thread thoroughly as the smallest failure in thread performance can result in losses on investment in material, equipment, garment engineering and labor.

Yarn can be produced from natural fiber or synthetic fibers.  There are many types of yarn can be produced worldwide but the main types are only : spun and filament.

The natural fiber mentioned is most commonly found in plant, we called that cotton fiber. Cotton fiber are typically being spun into fine yarn for mechanical weaving or knitting into cloth.  The other most commonly used fiber is polyester fiber (synthetic fiber).  It is made up from polymers derived from natural oil and gas.

Cotton yarn tend to require more careful handling because they can shrink, felt, stain, shed, fade, stretch, wrinkle or be eaten by moths more readily.  However, in le’fonse, we ensure that our cotton fabric have already being treated with multiple steps to keep those conditions at minimal.

When we talk about the thickness of the fabric, we will measure it using yarn count.  Yarn count refer to the thickness of a yarn and it is normally determined by its mass per unit length.  We can define it by its weight and fineness.

As a prominent t shirt supplier in Malaysia, we picked our yarn from Uzbekistan and Egypt the top quality of all in the world. The yarn we use for our roundneck cotton is ring spun cotton which is smoother and longer than carded open-end.  All the cotton used in Le'fonse are spun and combed through to remove impurities while ensuring it stays soft to touch.  When we have fewer impurities, printing on our shirt will be more outstanding.

Services of T Shirt Printing Malaysia has been growing gradually, besides ensuring the quality of cotton, we also add on features of the shirts ensuring its quality are always at top notch.  Our shirts is treated with pre-shrunk treatment as well as enzyme wash and silicon treatment to enhance the printing effect.
